You Pioneered Your Oversight Role Enabling the ERGs to Be Excellent.

Now Let ELA Validate You're One of the Few Real Experts in the World.

Oversight managers establish governance, guide ERG leaders, manage executive sponsorship, allocate resources and make decisions that affect an entire ERG program. Yet much of that expertise can be difficult to demonstrate beyond the organization where the work happens.

The ERG Oversight Manager Excellence Certification gives that work a professional standard. It evaluates your experience and current practices to determine whether your ERG oversight work meets ELA's requirements for certification.

ELA's Oversight Excellence Rubric™

Four Pillars. One Evidence-Based Standard.

The Oversight Excellence Rubric™ examines the full scope of ERG oversight, from the governance behind the program to how its performance and impact are measured.

What happens when an ERG leader isn't performing? How are executive sponsors selected, prepared and held accountable? What happens when leadership changes hands? How do you know whether your ERG program is working?

The rubric gets into the policies, processes and decisions behind those answers — including practices that may have developed informally or remain scattered across teams, documents and systems.

Align

Policies, processes, and strategies that integrate ERGs with your organization's broader business goals.

Engage

Strategies for building lasting participation from all ERG champions — ensuring sustainability and motivation.

Equip

Providing ERG leaders with the training, tools, and resources necessary for their success and long-term growth.

Elevate

Showcasing ERG impact, advocating for support, and driving organizational change through data-driven insights.

If It Can't Be Verified, It Can't Be Certified.

Your documentation has to back up what you say in the rubric. Required practices must be established, documented and in use — not merely understood or intended. A practice that lives only in someone's head or relies on "how we've always done it" isn't strong evidence. The certification process shows you what must be formalized before that work can be validated.

The Certification Standard

Every Required Area Has to Hold Up.

Certification is not based on an overall score. ELA evaluates your experience, rubric responses and supporting evidence across five performance levels. A high rating in one area cannot compensate for a gap in another; every required area must reach Meets Standard or higher.

1Unsatisfactory 2Improvement Needed 3Meets Standard 4Exceeds Standard 5Outstanding

✓ Certification requires every required area to land at "Meets Standard" or higher — no averaging across areas.

How Certification Works

Rigorous by Design. Supportive by Nature.

1

Prepare

Use the Oversight Excellence Rubric™ and Candidate Submission Checklist to assess your current practices and assemble your evidence. You'll know what's expected before you submit, how your work will be evaluated and where to focus if something doesn't yet meet the standard.

2

Submit

Send your completed rubric, checklist and supporting documentation to ELA.

3

ELA Expert Review

An ELA Oversight Expert Evaluator examines your work against the certification requirements and verifies it through the documentation you provide. If part of your submission falls short, your evaluator explains what needs attention. You have one opportunity to address the gaps and provide additional evidence before the final decision. You may also request a one-time 30-minute session with your evaluator to clarify the rubric or talk through your approach.

4

Earn the Credential

Once your submission meets the standard in all required areas, your expertise is formally recognized with the ERG Oversight Manager Excellence Certification, a digital certificate and a LinkedIn digital badge.

"The ERG Oversight Certification is an excellent process - lovely to feel your efforts are worth it and verified. The resources are hugely helpful in bringing this to life."
